Where do I look for a rental?

Hi there. I haven't been in this area of mothering for a while. My family used to live off grid, but doesn't currently. That has turned out to be a big mistake. My son is very sensitive to some very common chemicals and is having consistantly worse symptoms/reactions as time goes on. We aren't in a position to buy right now, but need to find a rental SOMEWHERE. It doesn't have to be off-grid, but it does need to be somewhat alternative in a way that synchs with off-grid ideals, so I thought this might be a good place for advice. I have a steady base income from social security from the kids' biodad's death, so we can go anywhere really. We do better with colder climates, and all our family is on the West Coast so we'd prefer to be NW"ish"...but anywhere my kids will be healthy is workable! I don't know where to look, though! I'm used to finding things by word of mouth mostly, but no one I know is aware of any more rural or rustic options right now. Do any of you know of any websites or something?

Craigslist. Mostly private listings but realtors also post there, so you could find names of real estate agencies that way and contact them for help.

Or pick a city and look on the local paper's website.
