We've beeen feeding our almost 10yo lab mix Canidae dry food for several years. We started out with the All Life Stages formula and have been feeding her the Chicken and Rice formula for the past few years with no trouble.
Â
However--a few weeks ago she was diagnosed with kidney disease and her liver enzymes were very elevated.  After $700 in vet bills with an ultrasound and two rounds of blood work, we still don't know what's going on.
Â
The vet recommends (of course) Hill's Prescription Diet. But I don't want to go that route.
Â
I'm feeling strongly that she needs a more natural diet, whatever the cause of her symptoms. So I've been looking into a homecooked diet for her. I know that many here at very pro-raw, but my concern is that a total meat diet would be too stressful on my dog's kidneys.Â

Is there a holistic food you'd recommend as an alternative?
