Hi everyone. I am looking for some advice from parents who might have gone through this. My son is almost 6 months old and even though he rolled from his back to his tummy for the first time a few months ago, this past week it seems like he really figured it out and now he does it all the time. Unfortunately, he hasn't figured out how to roll back onto his back again, and so he generally tries for awhile and then gets frustrated and cries. This is all fine, and I know that this is how he's going to learn how to do it.
Â
The problem I'm having is that he used to sleep very well, about 7 hours at a time overnight, but now he's waking up 3-5 times a night because he rolls himself onto his tummy and then can't get back and cries. I usually walk in, pick him up, and put him back to sleep on his back. But, it's starting to drive me nuts and I'm wondering how long this will last, and if there is anything I can do to help him.
Â
Some people have suggested putting rolled up towels on either side of him to prevent him from rolling 9I am not feeling too great about that suggestion) and others have suggested teaching him to sleep on his tummy so he won't freak out when he rolls over in his sleep. He is a very strong kid who lifts his head very well.

Any advice or support would be appreciated. Thank you!
