Mid-cycle/ovulatory bleeding? Maybe from too much sex?

Hello all!

My name is Angela and me and my husband are TTC #1. Today is day 19 of my cycle (and my 4th cycle off of the pill, and also the first cycle we have tried to conceive). All of my other cycles have been normal with ovulation occurring between day 15 and day 18, and cycle lengths varying from 31 to 34 days. Luteal Phase is always 16 days.

CD 17, I thought, would be the day that I should ovulate. I woke up that morning and when I wiped after going to the bathroom, there was a little tinge of blood. I checked around my cervix and there was even more blood that was pretty bright red. All day CD 17 I wore a panty liner but no blood came out. When I wiped inside with toilet paper, however, there is a good amount of blood. No cramping or soreness.

Yesterday, CD 18, the blood was still there and only a little bit was on the panty liner and it was more brown than red. Would this be considered spotting if its not really coming out of me onto the panty liner?

Me and my hubby have had sex every night on days 13,14, 15 and 16. I am pretty sure this cannot be implantation bleeding because it would be too early for that, but maybe ovulatory bleeding? Also, could the bleeding be related to too much sex?

I've never had this happen during my other 3 cycles off of the pill. Ovulation was always like clockwork and I would always get my period 16 days after. But, we weren't TTC during those cycles.

Also, could this blood be the result of sperm meeting egg and fertilization occurring? I hope so!

Thanks in advance!

Today, CD 19, would be the 3rd day of bleeding and there isn't much blood down there so I guess that's a good sign! There was just a little bit of brown blood before I took a shower about 30 mins ago and there was also some stretchy cervical mucous that was tinged with blood as well.

If it were me I wouldn't worry about it, since it was so close to your expected ovulation time I'd assume it was ovulation bleeding. I've not noticed O bleeding, but my friend (and recent houseguest) says she gets it like clockwork every month. Good luck!

The same thing happened to me this past cycle and I  suspected it was due to frequent bd'ing as we dtd a lot this month. I started spotting before the ewcm (and my ewcm arrives before I ovulate).  So yes, it could be due to sex ( a minor tear on the cervix), but could also be due to ovulation.  Either way, I wouldn't worry too much about it.  As far as I know, spotting does not occur during fertilization and while some women implant as early as 3dpo, I agree it was probably too soon for that.

It could also be hormonal bleeding related to coming off birth control. But I agree with pp that it is likely ovulation bleeding. Do you chart your basal body temp? This would help to confirm whether or not you ovulated. I do sometimes get a little ovulation bleeding but it never reaches my panties. I just find a streak of bright red in my EWCM.

Thanks, everyone! The bleeding has stopped as of today so thankfully it's not something major.

I do not chart my bbt because when I did in the past I was never consistent with timing so it confused me even more. I've been trying a more laid back approach since TTC like only checking my cervical mucous to indicate when I'm ovulating. If I charted my bbt and used opk's then I feel I'd become obsessed/stressed about the whole situation. I did want it to happen "naturally" but, then again, you can only get pregnant a couple days out of the month and obviously you need to have sex around those days so some type of charting is needed!

Thanks again everyone!
