Medicaid friendly decent Pedi in San Antonio/Shirtz/Cibolo/South of Austin???!!!

Long story short DD is 5.5mo we went to her first WBV at 6wks and haven't been back since the clinic that medicaid found for us was not BF friendly (they kept pushing that DD spitting up was because of bfing and that I needed to give her rice cereal or switch to predigested formula....not happening) let along non vax/ co sleeping/CLW friendly. I don't really believe in WBV, DH and I are very healthy, DD is gaining weight meeting milestones appropriately, but a dear friend of mine was reported to CPS for medical neglect and is now under investigation for NOT going to WBV.. Plus the fact that I would like to have a relationship with a pedi for sick baby visits leads me to look for a new pedi or preferably a D.O..

We cannot afford to pay for private insurance and so far NONE of the pedi's that are recommended on this or any other "crunchy" style forum are willing to accept medicaid. at this point I'm willing to look into anything south of Austin. Any recommendations are appreciated!

Im in austin now so I don't have any recs for you but if you search this forum you should find some names. I just use the low income clinic in s austin and am fine with that. They give me a little grief.about missing a lot ofwell babies but they are reasonable about it.

Have you tried Dr. McMains? She accepted Medicaid a few years ago, though I'm not sure if that is still the case.

I also googled this doctor with "Medicaid" and found a form that indicated that she took it. She's a DAN doctor whose name has come up here on occasion.

If you have a list of doctors in the region who take medicaid, you could post some names and see if anyone here has experience with them.

Here is a list of peds in Bexar county; click view detail and you can see if they are accepting medicaid patients http://ssl.texmed.org/bcmsv2/Default.aspx

Emmeline II - thanks for the info I'm going to give her a call and see if she accepts medicaid.

PoppyMama - That was my plan originally but the low cost clinics here are all part of the same linked system and the one they want me to go to is the same one that set CPS on my friend... not good.
