So, just out of curiosity, can anyone tell me the original publication date on this? My husband and I were debating it as we read, and I can't find an answer anywhere.

I think Rixa Freeze says something about 1953? Though it's been through a number of reprints. Also the resuscitation instructions are outdated.

Are they? What are the new recommendations? (do you mean the "accordian" instructions?)

Yes. I don't think they teach that method anymore. Don't know why - maybe the "new" (normal to us) way is more effective.
