Please help discuss options if you have had experience with this. My son whom is 19 yrs. old has never had any major medical problems overal healthy but experienced heat exhaustion and it landed him in the ER. He has been on his own since May with him and his girlfriend. They do not have money troubles like most young couples however they both have worked and saved their monies while finishing school. Dr yesterday prescribed him with celexa 10 mg per day and told him to return in 10 days to see how he is feeling and see if that made any improvements at all or not. He is so worried along with myself about the side effects of a teen taking an antidepressant. He has decided to not take it because his skin was crawling with the first dose however pharmacists says it takes 1-2 weeks to get into your system. ???? Maybe it is like the example of dr's taking off poor babies foreskin without any pain meds now they do hmmm guess it did hurt them poor babies. Just an example of how dr's don't always know best!! Just besides myself that a dr knowing he has been perfectly healthy all 19 yrs of his life never had any kind of meds can just by symptoms prescribe him meds to take guess I should have been thinking clearer but it is overwhelming when dr says those words PTSd ): I called in to the dr's office to let them know he was having a really tough time deciding to take meds that it was really difficult for him to take them and if I took him to an ND would she work with his ND dr. The call back reply to me was she would be comfortable with him going somewhere else!!! *ate DR"S I swear wouldn't there be a more professional approach like why don't we get him evaluated with the mental clinic and see what they think?? errrrrr Very frustrated now. Well I have vented now thanks to all of you that made it through my long post. So has anyone had successful results taking L-Tryptophan, 5-HTP,Or Neuro Natural Serenity for anxiety or post tramatic stress disorder? What worked for your PTSD? Thanks everyone!!
