getting fabric softener out of diapers

Thread Starter

We are in the middle of a move and my mom offered to wash diapers, I forgot that she always uses fabric softener, and didn't think of it until we unpacked the diapers, and they have it on them.  Please tell me I can get it off, and how.  I have used hot water and a lot of soap, but they still have the feel of fabric softener.  Does it take a few times? can they be saved?

thank you!

I can't say for sure bc I've never done this, but I've heard of soaking in vinegar overnight. Fill up the machine w cold water and pour in vinegar (maybe a cup?) and then add your diapers. Also maybe a good dry in the sun? Good luck!!

i would suggest several hot washes with tide or other harsh detergent (they may be better at taking the oils out) with a couple of hot wash, no detergent after to try to get out the detergent residue.
