Belly wrapping after birth

I have been reading a lot about belly wrapping after birth to help get your pre pregnancy body back, has and/or is anyone else doing this; and if so what kind of results did you get or hoping for.

Also what did you use or are planning to use?

Here women traditionally wrap rebozos around the belly postpartum for at least a few days... My mama-in-law recommends it and I will be giving it a try for sure! I've heard it feels good to have some support there, too, after so many months of not really using abdominal muscles and feeling a bit floppy postpartum. Hopefully I'll be trying this *soon* :)

I'd like to know about this too!  I have friends who have given very positive reviews.

I got one of these: http://inhishands.com/Binder-Abdominal.4922

Can't wait to try it. I plan on wearing it as much as possible postpartum.

I did this to a degree after we got home from the hospital.  It really helped me be comfortable enough to walk around without being hunched over.  It flattened my stomach in a really weird way though.  Now my flab is hanging super low.  I wish I could have had a c-tuck.  LOL.

After my first I used supportive undergarments and it definitely helped everything snap back to a similar version of what it used to be. I had bad diastasis recti after my daughter and used something with extra firm support (think post-surgical garment) to bring the muscles back together and it helped a lot. Immediately post-partum when your mid-section is weak and you slump forward while breastfeeding and holding the baby, it helps to correct posture and provide some extra support for everything. I wear Spanx almost exclusively later on as underwear.

I will be getting a Belly Bandit.  Too bad I didn't fit one when I was around 5 months.  Luckily a local store carries them so I will be venturing out soon after the baby is here.  ISa Hererra recommends them to help support the muscles and uterus pp.

Do you know how to wrap the rebozo to make it work? I have a wrap so maybe I could use that rather than buying something.

My midwife and her assistant are in FULL support of wrapping...and even recommended the Belly Bandit.

Next on my list to buy...

Wrap it around your waist as many times as it fits (mine goes around twice or so) and tie. Like a big thick cloth belt around your middle. Like a hug! My sweet MIL swears by it!

How tight do you make it? Comfortably snug or as tight as you can handle?

Comfortably snug - definitely loose enough so that you can breath and move and be comfortable. Just tight enough to give support but not to leave marks on your skin.

Thanks. I think I might try that because I can't really afford the $60+ for a belly band.
