Mama Cloth

So I just decided at the last minute to finally pull the trigger and try mama cloth for the first time post partum. I've always looked into it but never done it because it seems so daunting to get started!
Anyone have any recommendations? Any favorite brands? Any favorite pads, like minky??

I figure I'll start there and also get some regular and light ones for after the PP flow tapers off. My regular periods are fairly light so I wont need the PP flow pads for regular periods and I think this might be the last baby so I might not need them long... (maybe I should just wait for AF to come back to try them???)

I'm 6 days pp and just started using my cloth today. I have old Freshies. not sure what brands are good today... but I have a variety of cloth pads, these have a liner that snap in and microfleece covered and are hemp. They absorb well and I have not had leaks unless they move down a little and get misplaced.

I was just using the tena serenity pads for incontinence:) They rock, lol.

I use pads I've sewn myself from the Kiki Pads pattern. I used the huge obstetrical pads and Tena undies for the first 4 or 5 days before switching, another big thumbs up for the Tena pads. My Kiki pads are cotton velour (top layer), two layers of zorb (absorbent layer), a hidden layer of PUL, and a cotton print on the outside. I actually prefer cloth pads for post-partum because of how long they have to be worn and I need something that breathes and is more comfortable, everything heals better as well and the bleeding slows down more quickly. I very rarely use regular or lite pads because I like longer pads for more coverage.

I use luna pads and have for years for overnight and my heavy days when I'm at home.  I don't tend to use them if I'm going to be away from home - that's just a convenience thing though.  I've just ordered a few new ones to freshen my stash. Love them! www.lunapads.com

I see her over on Diaperswappers a lot. I've been looking there and Tree Hugger pads. I looked at Luna pads today and couldn't figure out how they work. Are they like an AI2 diaper kind of idea??

Love these pads from Etsy.  I've been using them for about 2  years.  I got some "boosters" made from hemp and flannel to help with PP flow.

I love my Lunapads!  I've been using them exclusively for a long time.  They are blasted expensive, though, so I'm going to use disposable at first and then switch once my flow lightens up some.  They do work like an AI2-- the liners slip under the ric rac straps, and you can just change the liner rather than the whole pad.  I've also used Gladrags and some various WAHM pads, but I got rid of all of them a few years ago and now just use Lunapads.  Wish they were cheaper, though!

Did you ever try Tree Hugger or Mother Moon? Just wondering what you didn't like about the WAHM's vs the Luna Pads. I'm hesitant to spend a ton on PP flow and heavy pads since this is likely the last baby and I only need light flow for my regular AF's.
