Membrane sweep and then nothing......:(

I am 39 weeks and went to my MW yesterday. I was 1.5 cm and 60% effaced. He was at -2 and she said we were both ready to go. I have diabetes so they don't like me going over my due date. She swept my membranes which stretched me to a 2 and said she felt confident it would work. This was at 3:00 yesterday. I had some intense contractions which kinda fizzled out. I walked for 5 HOURS yesterday and they kind of picked up again. I did my EPO last night, stimulated my nipples and went to sleep. NOTHING. I have no contractions today, all I am is super sore and tired from walking so much last night. I know it can take 24-48 hours but I am feeling discouraged that I had contractiosn and they stopped. Why can it take so long? Do you think my contractions will start back up? Can someone come break my water (joking, kind of). Should I walk all day long and try to stay super active or just let it be?

That sounds like way too much walking.  Remember, you need to reserve your energy for labor.  You are only 39 wks!  If the baby isn't ready to come out, sweeping won't necessarily work....you might need it done again.  Are you trying other things?  Massage, acupuncture, sitting on a balance ball, castor oil?

I'm 2 days overdue & am getting nervous so I understand wanting labor to happen.  Trying some other things besides walking so much.

I know I still have some time but I really would like to avoid induction. They are willing to let me go to 40 weeks 3 days and then it is induction. :(. I did the balance ball, massage, masturbation ( I don't have access to semen), nipple stimulation. I guess I should just go on about my life and hope for the best. I hope you get yours out soon! I didn't dilate at all with Lennon until induction, will your dr induce or just make you have another CS?

First, you don't have to submit to an induction if you don't want one. Have you discussed weekly NSTs? If baby is doing fine, even with GD, an induction is not necessary.

Membrane sweeping is really not very effective at all unless your body is ready to go into labor soon anyway.

My MWs are trying everything so I don't have a repeat C/S.  I can't be induced medically b/c of the prior C/S.  I never dilated with DS b/c as soon as contractions started, he went into distress & I ended up with an emer. C/S.  I was hoping that on my last MW visit, they'd sweep my membranes, but I'm not at all dilated so that's not happening...maybe next week if I get that far.

If I make it to 41 wks, I guess I will do castor oil even though I threw up when I tried it with DS & the thought of it alone makes me feel sick.  If I can't keep it down, it won't work.  I have another acupuncture appt tomorrow, she'll use electrical stim again.

You can have your membranes swept again & keep trying all the other stuff too!  You will have some time.

I'm tired & sick of all the waiting waiting waiting....come out baby!
