pp thyroiditis/poor weight gain/ low supply??

I was wondering if anyone has any experience or knowledge as to why my supply may have dropped so drastically... My lo weighed 9.5 oz at birth-seemed to have a great supply fastforward to his four month checkup . He only weighed 12 lbs 11 oz. not even quite a lb gain from his 2 month checkup.  To my knowledge I have done nothing to decrease my supply but take benedryl for a week for an allergic reaction but after looking at the timeline I believe my supply was already dropping before the benedryl... other than this I have been diagnosed with pp thyroiditis but all of my labs so far show hyper thyroid and not hypo... (although i did just get them rechecked and am waiting for the results)  does anyone know if hyperthyroid can affect supply? everyone has told me no but I can't see any other reason for my low supply... I started domperidone a few days ago but haven't seen any increase...

I just read in "Making More Milk" that even though there isn't any research, a few mother's have reported low supply when hyperthyroid.  Also, some conditions cause a hyperthyroid state first, and then a hypothyroid state so sometimes the hyperthyroid state is missed and then never documented.

I think each time I went up on my dom, the doctor waited about a week and then told me to go ahead and go up on it.

Interesting I wish they would do some research into hyperthyroid and low milk supply.  I started the dom Monday night and THIS morning I finally saw a real increase so I am a lot more relieved! I actually got an ounce AFTER feeding my lo this morning so its like a weight off of me I am so happy. I hope I don't end up needing to increase or stay on the dose i'm on but I will if it helps me to keep breastfeeding him...

Well it's official I have pp thyroiditis. My labs just came back and I am now hypothyroid. So if doesn't self resolve in a month I will be starting meds ... this is so frustrating. The dom. does seem to be helping now though at least..
