A couple weeks ago my dog (3 year old golden retriever / greyhound mix) started getting lots of yellow / green goop in one eye, and then it got very red. We took him to the vet and she did not find any tears or problems with the eye. She said it was likely allergies or conjunctivitis. She gave us drops which worked quickly but we did keep giving the drops for a week as we were instructed. Well as of yesterday he has the goopy stuff in both eyes. So I am thinking it is allergies. Is there something else we should do to treat this or prevent it? I clean the goop out with a warm, wet washcloth and I am giving him the drops again now in both eyes. Would appreciate any other advice.

infection of the eye. I didn't understand your sentence.. but you did it for a week? You need to continue the drops longer than you see the infection and wash his bedding etc Maybe be helpful to also wash the eye and get that infection out before you put meds in. the vet COULD have PCR tested it to see what it was but that's like $100
