Pediatrician on Long Island near Babylon

I have a four month old son and we are not happy with our pediatrician.  I am looking for a pediatrician near Babylon but I am willing to drive up to 30 minutes.  I would like a doctor who is open to holistic and natural medicine and that does not jump to antibiotics as the answer to every problem.  I would also like a doctor who is open to slowing down the vaccine schedule.  Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Hello. We see a Dr. Eisenberg in Sayville. We were seeing someone in West Islip right next to Good Sam but didn't like their vax schedule. I know he's not exactly local but he understood our desire to slow down the vax schedule and was very willing to listen to us. We started going to him with DD was about 4 or 5 months and we were able to interview him first which not a lot of peds let you do after the child is born. My friend also uses him and she doens't vax.

I've found everyone in the office to be friendly and helpful too.

His number is (631) 563-8190. Good luck!

Thank you so much for your reply!  Does he practice in a group or alone?  If it is a group, are the other doctors just as good?

He just recently (springtime) hired another doc in his practice because it was getting too large. He also has a Nurse practitioner. Both the new doc and nurse are women. We did baby led weaning and the nurse prac. was a bit of a hard head about it but we listened to what she said and then firmly ignored it. wink1.gif I remember when we were filing out the new patient paperwork and they asked where DD slept and DH and I just kinda looked at each other before saying "with us in our bed." Doc did have something to say about that but he prefaced it by saying "As a medical professional I have to tell you..." That's how he is. He tells you what he needs to to cover his ass but knows that you're going to do what you need to do.

I've said to him, "ok which of those three or four vax's would you recommend if you were only going to give one this visit?" And he very calmly tells us. We've always done it that way and he's always listened.

If you go to this site (http://www.nydoctorprofile.com/search_parameters.jsp), you can look up the details on any doctor licensed to practice in NY. I found it very helpful when we changed peds ( and when looking for docs for DH and I).

Good Luck!

Thank you so much for all your help!  It's so hard to find a good pediatrician that is supportive.  smile.gif
