a couple vax questions...

dr sears,

i had a couple of questions i was hoping you could help with:

could you tell me a bit about spacing out vaxs and how well they will be effective.  i have just started my dtap series with my 2yr old and am wondering the best way to space them out? my older children i waited 6 months inbetween shots and now i am wondering if they are as effective when given that far apart?

my daughter is four and just recieved her 3rd dtap...in order to have adequate pertussis protection when would you advise her to get another booster?

when i was a baby i had a seizure after my measles shot, none of my children have had this yet. what would you suggest i do with them in regards to this vaccine?

again, THANK YOU so very much for answering these questions, i know you are aware of how difficult these decisions can be.

best,

kim

they will be just as effective once you eventually finish the series spaced 6 months apart, but it will just take you longer to get there. You need 4 doses total to get full protection, with the 4th dose being given at age 4 or later. your 4 year old daughter would need one more dose - 6 months after the 3rd dose.

I wouldn't get your kids the MMR since you had that reaction.
