Did I ruin the test?

I have a feeling the answer is yes, but I wanted to ask just in case.  I have a bunch of those dip tests you can get for cheap online, and wanted to use one, but I didn't remember to bring a cup up to the bathroom.  So I attempted to pee on it, below the "max" line.  My aim, apparently, is terrible, and I peed on the portion where the results show up.  I could tell it was wet inside before the dye started moving across it, which it did very slowly.  But after the dye swept across, there were two lines on the test, within the time limit.

I ruined it, right?  That's a false positive due to misuse of the test?

I would try another one since you say you have lots to use winky.gif Hoping it's a real positive for you! I dropped a test in the toilet once. That is one way to definitely ruin one wild.gif

Yeah, just test again.  It's likely a positive b/c only the presence of hCG should make that second line show up no matter where you peed, but to be sure and for peace of mind, just re-test.  Keep us updated!

Thanks!  I'll try again tomorrow morning.

I kind of hate tests... I'm pretty laid back about whether or not we're pg right now; any time in the next year and a half would be fine with me, but as soon as I test, I want to know if it's positive or negative redface.gif

So, I ended up doing a couple of tests over the course of the day yesterday Sheepish.gif and then testing first thing this morning.  On all of the tests, I could see a super faint line before the 10 mins were up, but I wouldn't have bet my life that it was pink.  But by ten minutes after that, it did look pink.  I've been reading around about evaporations lines, and according to POAS, it's an evap line if it's gray/colourless, or if it has colour and it shows up after 10 minutes.  So I'm not sure how that applies to this situation, since the line was there within the ten minutes, but I couldn't tell the colour.

I guess I'll just have to exercise some more patience.  I'm definitely feeling either premenstrual or like the accomodations in there are shifting around.

Do you know how many DPO you are?  I might suggest getting a blue dye test... just a generic drug store or FRER.  Or, of course, wait.  I would doubt you would get evap lines on every single test you take.  I'm betting it's a BFP and you'll see clear results soon enough.  Post pics for us next time?

Wait a few days and test again winky.gif I also recommend the First Response Early Result test. Keep us updated!

I'm not sure how many DPO -- I keep track of CM, but I'm not really using it to ttc or tta, just so I can keep track.  I'm only on CD 27 today; I usually ovulate around CD 20-21, and then have a 30-32 day cycle.  But I've had a couple of 28 day cycles since my last baby.  So it is still early, but I think I ovulated early this month; my best guess is cd 15.  So I'm not even 14 DPO.

I did think it wasn't likely to get an evaporation line on each test, but I figured stranger things have happened.  But there was one test that didn't get an evaporation line -- the one I dipped in water as a "control" test.  redface.gif

I'm just going to wait (im)patiently.
