I have, it's pretty good, but not my favorite vegan cheese.

What is your favorite vegan cheese?

I like the texture of Daiya for anything that I want to melt cheese on, like a pizza or a quesadilla. The trick with Daiya is that you need to use it VERY sparingly - 8 ounces is plenty for a 14 inch pizza, an ounce is good for a 8 inch tortilla - and use it as an accent rather than the focus of a dish - spinach, grilled onions and garlic with 'pepperjack' or a whole bunch of great veggies and extra sauce with mozzarella.

For eating on its own, the best one I've tried is Sheese. I especially like the gouda flavor. For topping nachos or a baked potato, Nacheez is amazing. I also like to make the sage crock "cheese" from Vegan Vittles to spread on crackers or apple slices.

I tried Teese & it was good, not amazing, but nice melting!! I agree with Sheese being one of the absolute best I've ever tried, but it's expensive & not sold around here so I've only tried it once or twice. I like Daiya OK in small amounts veggie quesadilla) but prefer Follow Your Heart in larger amounts (on nachos, for ex.) We make our own cheezy sauce for things like mac & cheeze. Kind of depends what you're looking for in a 'cheeze'...

I'm just starting down the dairy free road so don't even know what I'm looking for.

How do you make cheezy sauce?

Well it contains nutritional yeast, which I know you are skeptical of... I can't find the recipe but it's very similar to this: http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=296050 but I also include onion powder & paprika. Maybe you could try omitting the nut. yeast & at the end add some other kind of cheese (Teese, Daiya, etc.) just 'til it melts. I do actually add Daiya to my sauce sometimes just to make it extra yummy, but I've never tried it without the yeast.

Jo Stepaniak has a few "Uncheese" cookbooks that I've tried various recipes from, they are all yummy! I really love experimenting with my own creations lately but her recipes are a great place to start. I like her "Crock cheese" which uses great white northern beans. I have a Jo Stepaniak book. I forgot about it. I'll have to look at it again.
