Easter baskets for the older crowd?

Do you do baskets for the older kiddies in your life?

I'm working on putting one together for Damian. It gets more difficult as they get older. I'm thinking along the lines of this:

Colored Pens
A little $$$
Very little candy
Socks (he has a sock fetish:LOL)
Goggles for this summer
Small pool toys for this summer

I put $10 in a card for him last year and I could tell he was disappointed that he didn't have an actual basket.

Rain has a sock fetish too She goes for the toe socks, though.

I hadn't actually thought about this. You had some good ideas, I may steal some Rain likes lip gloss, too - for years I begged her to wear anything on her dry, chapped lips and she wouldn't; now she carries 2 or 3 different flavors wherever she goes...

Dar, not much help

Off topic but...

drinking extra water, every day, will cure those lips. I had a kid with totally cracked lips every winter. She did an extra two glasses of water a day, and they went away.

My kids like to pick out their own! We go shopping Easter afternoon, everything is 1/2 price (which they think is cool. We're broke this time of year, so that helps). They pick out what they want, I hide a small surprise. I fix the baskets when we het home, or sometimes they do them!

Awesome idea Red!! I know Target had all their Valentine stuff marked 75% off just a few days after the holiday. I know Damian would think it was a hoot to pick it all out himself and I'd get to save $$$ too. I like the way you think

yup, my 14.5 yo still gets a basket every yr, right along with the 11 yo, 9 yo, and 2 yo

as a matter of fact, we just got back from the dollar store where we stocked a basket for each to the rim for less than $60 total. i'm quite thrilled, as it usually runs us over $100 every easter for baskets & treats.

this yr, dj got the following for his basket:

molding clay
whoopie cushion
stuffed bear
tons of candy in plastic eggs
bubbles (he still loves to play them w/my 2 yo)
bubblebath
stationery
pins & pencils

i'm thinking it might be a fun tradition if we never stop giving him an easter basket, lol

i think he'd agree

Um, I'm just a bit late here, but my 19yo, who was home from college for Easter told me flat out, "Mom, you'd better have an Easter basket for me!"

Should have read this thread first, as I just did the traditional eggs and a bit of candy thing... for all of my teens.

Same for 14mo ds, "Here's your basket, you can't eat eggs (allergic) or candy, but it's fun to look at!":LOL

I'll remember these ideas here for next year! Thanks!
