Honestly, I think they feel that way cuz alot of women that UC use midwives for care or HAVE used midwives in the past and don't like it cuz they need that job security. Which I can't blame them. There are alot of birth centers closing simply because of lack of clientelle.

I don't know that I would be comfortable with a midwife who would openly encourage UC. Supporting past clients or friends through their own UC journeys, sure. But to openly encourage it, I don't know. I think it basically tells the public that they don't value their work. That they are an unnecessary accessory to a birth. I don't want a midwife with a God complex, but I do want them to feel that they can offer something useful to my birth, kwim?

That being said, the midwife I used with the two younger girls is a friend of mine. And she is supportive of my UCing. But, I came to her as a mom who wanted to UC and am honestly in a much better place to even think about UCing than I was when I first met her.

They wouldn't have to ENCOURAGE UC. I don't even encourage it, even though I want one. I just know it's the right choice for me, because I'm low risk.

I understand 100% why someone would choose a UC and ALSO I understand 100% why someone would be strongly against them in a general way.

On this one IMO both sides are right.  I wouldn't now how to pick sides and I don't understand the fight.  Lots of things in life are like that.
