San Antonio here we come! Help!

So our homeschooling family of 6 is off to San Antonio and I know nothing about the area.  We are wanting to rent a 3+ bedroom house with land - do your local papers have great list of those? Hubby is working off of Huebner Road and will drive up to 45 minutes if we can find a land to garden not surrounded by commerical farm fields.

Where are the great farmer's markets?

Consignment shops?

Anyone run co-ops? I run Frontier.

Great parks?

Midwife or Doc willing to take on VBA4C?

What about The Circle School - looks great!

Great secular groups to join that are active and families gather?

Anywhere not to look? 

What should we know about San Antonio:)?

Hello, welcome. We are from Tx but just moved to the SA area about 8 months ago. Check this site out, it may answer many of your questions: http://www.sanantonionaturalparenting.com

Also, search for the above group on Facebook, they have a lot of newcomer q&a's, or you could post there as well with questions. It is a nice, active group. I think their last meeting was on homeschooling, too. I've never been to any of their meetings, though.

We are also renting a home but over in the NE side of town. Found it on www.hotpads.com

Yes, the Circle School seems really neat but you and your kid(s) have to interview to get in. I know and have heard of some awesome people who have interviewed and were not initially accepted, not sure why, but it is certainly something to check out.

The Acorn and Discovery School are also supposed to be great preschools, if you are looking for something like that. Though I know you mentioned you hs.

Also, I would scout the city-data.com forums (search for San Antonio) for more info on the SA area.We are still getting to know the area ourselves. Good luck!
