Hello Ladies!
My name is Sarah, I am 23 years old, my DH & I have been married for 3 years and have a sweet little 16 month old girl (who is still BF!). Â I've never been on this site, but a friend recommended me so I can get more support for my HBAC.
We're planning to TTC baby #2 in September, and I'm very very excited, this baby will be my HBAC! At first my OB had told me she would work with me for a VBAC, but I recently found out that she no longer does VBAC anymore, and only 1 other doctor in my city does. After deciding with my DH that we don't want to chance not having that doctor at our birth and we don't want to fight with hospital staff again to get the birth we want, that was stolen from us the 1st time, we decided to go research our other options. I had met a midwife that was highly recommended at the local baby expo, and started to research homebirth. I found out I would be a good candidate for a homebirth, and right before I was going to call her to talk about it, I found out I had won a prize from her booth! I won a 1 hour reiki session (which is an individualized class for overcoming fears associated with birth and past traumatic birth experiences, which I had, so I was very excited!)!
My husband was still very uneasy about giving birth at home, but I had him watch Business of Being Born & Pregnant in America. And we've had many many talks about all the research I've done about it, and slowly he's feeling better about it.
I also found out this midwife lives only a block away from my house; this homebirth was starting to look better and better by the second. So I walked down to her house with my daughter to pick up my prize and we had a long chat about everything. She told me everything sounds like I would be good for homebirth, she just has to know what kind of incision is on my uterus. After the talk (and my toddler making a mess) I set up a real consultation appointment with her at the end of this month! My DH still has his doubts about homebirth, but hopefully this will ease his fears. She's going to show us all her equipment she uses and how everything runs with her, we're also going to discuss my nutrition to get ready for being pregnant again. She'll also have her attendants there to meet (1 of them is a midwife apprentice, and the other is a doula/prenatal masseuse/reiki teacher).Â
I'm 90% sure she's our midwife. I'm so excited! Now we just need to get pregnant LOL! I can't wait for September to come around so we can get to it!
