Using progesterone cream to increase breast tissue during pregnancy

Hi ladies,

Has anyone used natural progesterone cream on their breasts during pregnancy to increase low breast tissue due to IGT? I had to take domperidone to breastfeed my son, and even then I only produced maybe 1/3-1/2 his needs.

I'm now 4 weeks along with baby #2 and want to do as much as possible while pregnant to encourage breast tissue growth. I've read Making More Milk, but I'd like some irl anecdotes as to the success or failure of the suggested methods.

Thanks so much!

Hi Misia,

I'm just curious if you ended up trying this and if it worked for you? We are thinking about ttc #3, so if this works I would start right away. IGT sucks :(

Thanks,

Kate

Before this pregnancy, I had size A breasts and fairly heavy periods. With my first baby, my breasts did not increase in size. I did have trouble breastfeeding, though I don't know if it was only because my girl had a poor latch and a low appetite, or if I was producing a small amount of milk. My nipples were definitely small compared to other women. But my midwife never mentioned IGT.

Anyway, before I got pregnant, I thought maybe I could benefit from using progesterone cream. I thought I might be estrogen dominant. After using it for a couple weeks, my breasts definitely increased in size, and I was thrilled. But after a while, they went back down. Discussing it with my mom (who also uses progesterone cream), we thought I may have overdone it in the other direction. I would say that it's safe to experiment a bit, but start with small amounts, and monitor closely. My progesterone has increased naturally with this pregnancy, along with larger breasts and nipples.

If you can find a holistic doctor well-versed in this subject, great. But there aren't too many out there.

In my first pregnancy, I had about a 50 percent supply, suspected IGT, even with 160 mg of domperidone a day, pumping, herbs. The second time around, I used progesterone cream (Pro-Gest) twice a day from the positive pregnancy until a week or so before my due date. I had a full supply eventually (had to use 150 mg of dom, also pumped and used a lactaid with donor milk for the first two months). I'm not sure if it helped but it was worth a shot!
