i hear you have to be on a waitlist for a preschool from when your child is 1, is this true? my son turned 3 in may, and we are hoping to move to L.A. (pasadena) in september.  i am not planning on putting him in preschool until next fall, but i thought i would have to apply this fall anyway...we go to a parent child class at a waldorf school here in chicago, so something similar would be great.  looking for "green" holistic community.  any suggestions?

It is pretty competitive. Whitney Guide and Coping with Preschool Panic are two local publications. Church run schools have more flexible admissions. Did you know there are Waldorf schools in Pasadena? Might be a place to start.

I would give the Waldorf school in Pasadena a call. Perhaps you can get him on the list there, now, just by submitting an application.  I don't think it's nearly as competitive as the stories I hear about NYC, but I can't say for sure. My kids went to school in the 'burbs and I didn't see those kind of issues.
