Questions regarding my 3YO

Sometimes I feel very confident with my parenting and other times I'm so insecure. And today I'm doubting myself. Does anyone have any feedback or advice for me? smile.gif

I volunteered to lead the 3YO vacation Bible school class and DS is in my class. He shows up acting like HE is in charge, running amuck and doing basically whatever he wanted. Half way through he started crying "I'm done, I wanna go home" but as the leader I couldn't stop what I was doing to tend to his needs.

Who do you get 3YOs to listen to you? How do you get a group of 3 YOs to follow directions?

Do you have any cute sing-songs or games for certain activities, like line up, listen to the directions, put toys away?

I feel like I false miserably today at maintaining organization over a group of 7 3-YOs, one of which has special needs. Any good advice for tomorrow?

Simon Says is a good one to get kids to listen, or start whispering instructions (like "whoever can hear me, pat your head), and the closest kids start doing it and then eventually they all quiet down to listen.

For cleaning up, there is this little song I learned at our church nursery that goes "Clean up, clean up, everybody, everywhere. Clean up, Clean up, everybody do your share." or "Toys (balls, books, etc) away, toys away, it's time to put the toys away. Toys away, toys away, thank you for putting the toys away."

For taking walks, our nursery has a string with rings on it for the kids to hold onto (they used rings from canning jars). For lining up, you say the quietest kids line up first, and then pick each child (whoever is being the most quiet) to go get in line.

Hope this helps!
