Indian/Asian Squash Type Veggie

Kicking myself now for eating them all without taking a picture!  They are small, only about 1.5", and medium green with pale green stripes.  I'd really like to be able to grow them next year.  Hopefully I can find the seeds and they are prolific producers.  I looked on Seeds of India.com but couldn't find anything that looked like the little squash veggies we ate.

Are they similar to a zucchini? The coloring and size sounds like kousa to me - could this be it?

Alot smaller.  Unless they are the baby version of that.  I thought about trying the local Indian shop to see if they sell them.  I am growing Drumstick Trees which is turning out to be really enjoyable.  Helps that they are a hard-to-kill type plant!

Ahhh - I incorrectly read your first post, and was thinking they were 1.5 inches around, not 1.5 inches long. That is really tiny! If you figure out what they were, post back. Were you in India when you had them? Where did you get them?

Indian Resteraunt.  Didn't think to ask.  DH doesn't know what they are called and he ought to being he is from India and his mom has cooked them his whole life!  I've had them before but only recently started a garden in our yard.  Planning for next year already and I love sqaushes.  They are such easy veggies to grow.  I'll let you know if I do ever find out what they are.

I would check out www.seedsofindia.com

It sounds to me like you were eating an edible gourd. Perhaps the Bhoomi gourd?

If they tasted like cucumbers, you had "Mouse Melon", which is "Melothria scabra", and a natice of the American Southwest. Looks like tiny watermelons.

Does this look like it?
