vitex side effects?

Hi, does anyone know anything about vitex side effects? I've been taking 200mg per day for around two weeks now and for the last couple of days I've had (mild) AF-type cramps. I'm just wondering if this is normal? I haven't had my PPAF yet so no idea where I am in my cycle (if I have a cycle)

thanks!

This website, as well as a few others state side effects a nausea, stomach ache and headache.  So I'd guess that the cramping is your body gearing up for ovulation or AF

However, most sources state that to be effective, the dosage needs to be 1000-2000mg/day, and the effects are usually experienced 2-3 months after you begin taking it regularly

best wishes on your journey!

Niniel,  I definitely felt like Vitex revved up my body for O and felt PMS-like symptoms for months while on it (cramping, moodiness, etc.)  Eventually I switched to another supplement (s) and felt much better and got first PPAF.

thanks for the replies.

I do wonder if I am gearing up to O (DD nightweaned about 2 months ago now so it could be due to that rather than the vitex I suppose). I've had cramps since Sunday and yesterday I had a sharp pain in my left side (ovulation pain maybe?) I also noticed some fertile CM. DTD with hubby just in case and had more cramping afterwards. my temp had a slight rise this morning (but I think I took it earlier than usual, tbh I just woke up, stuck the thermometer in my mouth and went back to sleep after it beeped, didn't even look to see what time it was). just have to see what my chart does over the next couple of days now!
