light to moderate bleeding 11 dpo/4 days before period?

Hi all,

So I am 11 dpo, and started to "spot" around 3 a.m. I had woken up cold (sweat through my tank) and went to use bathroom. Light spotting. I had a pinkprick size spot 2 days ago. The flow has picked up now to a light to moderate bleeding, enough to need a liner. I took a test, negative. My cycles are usually 31 days long, (outliers of 29 and 37) that would make this 27. Any suggestions?

Are you sure of your ovulation date? Meaning, do you chart/temp? Maybe you ovulated a little early this cycle and AF is on her way?

Yes, pretty sure. I temp, check cm and use opk.

Could be implantation, could be AF on her way. What color is the spotting?

was pink/red, now red.

Sounds like af.gif. I hope I'm wrong!

Yeah, I just used ladies room (apparently I have no limits to my TMI now). Definitely period. So my luteal phase is bouncing between 9 and 16 days. I put a call in my dr to see if she had any suggestions. I am really disappointed.

So sorry she found you! hug2.gifI would say FF is pretty right about your O day since it was the last day of EWCM. That does seem strange your LP went from so long to so short.

With the spotting on 8 DPO I would say perhaps this was a low progesterone cycle for you.  Have you changed anything in your exercise routine or diet recently?  I agree with FF's assessment of your O day as well, wet to dry, a classic sign of O.   Are you sure of your previous LP lengths- how many charts do you have to compare?  16 days is quite long!  Certainly some women do have 16 day LP's but suddenly dropping to 9 is definitely uncommon unless there has been a major health event.   Can you post some previous charts for us to look at?

Alternatively some women do all out bleed around the time of expected AF or implantation.  Your temp is still high today.  If they stay high after you stop bleeding I would test again.

Hi Jamiee!

No health or exercise routine changes. I try to stay reasonably active and eat well, so nothing has changed that I can think of. Here are some of the weird charts.

http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/338753  This should show a 16 lp, 14 lp and 10 lp, from may, march and feb.

Well, May is pretty convincingly 14 days, except that you have a day of fertile CF on the spike, but most likely 14 days.  No April chart?  March does not have enough data, IMO, to pinpoint ovulation.  Yes you have a spike, but it dips drastically, there's no CF data, and you didn't continue temping throughout your supposed LP to see if you got another patch of CF and another spike a few days later- which I'm almost willing to bet you did.  I would not count that cycle as accurate enough to include in your stats at this point.  February is pretty likely 10 days though again there was minimal CF data.  So you have 9, 10, and 14.  Usually your LP will only vary by 2 days so I'm still guessing that things are regulating.   A few more cycles and charts I bet will allow you to better see your true averages.  I would not be surprised if your body is working toward a 14 day LP, but is still falling short hormonally.  It doesn't mean you can't conceive, just that you'll need to catch that egg on a cycle that was going to have a 10+ LP (without spotting).
