Safe, Natural toys for babe, where to purchase?

Thread Starter

I have a friend who just had a grandson born.  The baby is about 5 weeks and she wants to purchase him some toys.  His parents have had specific requests about no toys from China and I suspect they would prefer if they were all-natural and things like that.  Are their some good places to find these toys at a somewhat reasonable price?  I wanted to give her some places she could go shop online where the selection would be safe to purchase.

Any idea?

Nova Naturals

Three Sisters

Rosie Hippo

Magic Cabin

Chinaberry

* Look for sales because natural/wooden toys are definitely more expensive.

The problem with Amazon (I feel) is that everything ships separately and the cost does add up for shipping.

Very true. It is better to shop at small online boutiques

Nova Naturals is great. Cottonbabies.com sells an assortment of Haba wooden toys, with free shipping, and Amazon often has Plan toys with Super Saver or Prime shipping.

I haven't checked it out, but Mothering.com is advertising a toy sale at Julabug.com (I think a 5% discount with code).

Some good suggestions already. I'll add Manhattan Toy  and Etsy, where you may find better prices as the stuff there is all handcrafted and you're buying direct from the person who made it.

We also tend to do Amazon and spend $25 for free shipping or use Amazon Mom for free Prime membership (not just for moms!): we like Haba Toys and Plan Toys. Under The Nile makes some soft newborn toys from organic, fair trade Egyptian cotton in the shape of food. We dip them in water and then freeze as fun teethers. We'd like to get a Skwish from Manhattan Toys for DS (I don't know if it is MIC).

I've gotten some great toys for my neices and nephews from http://www.atoygarden.com/. If you poke around, you can find some very reasonably priced toys. Their "baby" category has many items that cost less than $15-20
