Hi mommas,
I'm hoping to get some advice. First off, I have chills pretty bad. No fever, no aches, my breasts do hurt but I just got my milk in and they are a little engorged so I figured thats why. Now my nipples burn after feedings for a while, but that could be due to other issues which I'll get into later. Could this be mastitis? Should I pump some off? Wouldn't that just aggravate the issue of having too much milk?
Secondly, I had a little nipple pain, but today its unreal (she's five days old). I noticed I have lipstick shaped nipples after shes done feeding. I read this is either due to improper latch or tounge tied. I can't seem to get her latch deep enough so I'm not sure what to do there.
And she is a lazy nurser. She'll fall asleep and I have to wake her up, and then she won't take the other side. Then she'll wake up and want to nurse again. I practically nurse her every hour. I don't mind, but my nipples do! And I want to make sure she is getting enough in the inital feeding. Any advice there? What would be the minimum time I should consider it a "complete feeding" where she'll hopefully be satisfied for two or so hours. Like 10-15 minutes on each side?
Sorry so long! Thanks for any advice!
