My daughter is almost 6 months old and has been diagnosed with hydrocephalus, meaning water on the brain. She was diagnosed at 3 1/2 months, and on her 4 month check up was sent to ER due to a surge in her head size.  She had a shunt placed later that day. That was April 26th.. she has since had 8 surgeries in the last 11 weeks.  I have been bf her and she seems to be doing well, but we are noticing a slow weight gain now.  I am hoping that it is only because she has been in the hospital this whole time, but we are not sure.  As she is so young, we do not know how the hydrocephalus will truly affect her, we know currently she has very low muscle tone, is just now learning to roll over, and will only now tolerate 5 minutes of belly time.  Does not scoot or crawl or sit on her own.  But that is okay, I know that one day she will do those things we just call it now on her time! LOL

Welcome!

I hope that the surgery whirlwind is at an end for a bit, and your little daughter can recover and grow!

I don't have experience with that, but...

My son was not a belly man disappointed.gif. Even now he will crunch over his knees to play rather than lie down on his tummy lol.gif -- he was also on the latter end of the scale for sitting and crawling.

On the other hand he appears to be part spider -- when he was 2yo we had to lock the kitchen chairs in the garage because I was sick/pregnant and couldn't always keep him from climbing the cabinets. In K he climbed to the top of the play structure at recess and wouldn't come down, and used to terrify his grandmother by being on top of the backyard gym, so shrug.gif.

I am always terrified when kids climb on the gyms at home and school! My oldest is 11 and I still freak out! :giggle
