Sorry it took me so long to respond!! Here are my answers:
1. How did you choose your screen name? It's the same name as
my blog
2. Where do you live? Where were you born? We're in Kansas City right now. My hubby and I were in New Mexico for 3 yrs prior to this (and I would gladly return), but we moved back to the KC area to be closer to family when we found out we were expecting our first son. We're both originally from Kansas.
3. What are your plans for this birth? We have a wonderful midwife and are planning a home birth. My midwife has a birth pool, I just need to get a disposable liner. I'm so excited!! We had Kieran at a birth center, and I wished it had been at home.
4. What is one of your favorite books? zomg - I won't tell you how many times I've read the Twilight series - it's like junk food for the brain when you need a break. Ummm, I'm a fantasy/sci fi/thriller/legal fiction junkie - so Harry Potter, Stephen King, John Grisham . . . Honestly, I'd read just about anything you put in my hands.
5. What is one of your favorite movies? I love the LOTR & Harry Potter series. I watch Sound of Music at least once a year. I will also admit to seeing Titanic and Dirty Dancing more than is necessary. My last movie purchase was Music & Lyrics from the bargain bin - Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant are cute, and the main song is actually quite catchy.
6. If you could visit anywhere in the world where would you go and why? I've been itching to take a family vacation to Europe, but that's a long way off. I studied in London for a summer, and we took trips to Ireland, Germany, and the south of England. I'd love to go back, and I'd try to plan it where we could just tool around for at least a month, if not more, hitting all kinds of countries.
7. Do you/have you done any sports? The correct question would be "have you done any sports well"

My sports endeavors top out at co-ed softball as an adult, some swimming (I swim better than I field), and the solo yoga practice I've been pretty faithful to during this pregnancy. I tried running for awhile - I'm just not a fan.
8. What is your current job? What did you do pre-motherhood? Pre-mama I was a lawyer. I clerked for several years (in New Mexico) for a federal judge, and when we moved back to KC I did a brief stint with the DA's office. Now I do occasional contract work for that same judge (who is now retired and does some settlement type things just for fun). I wish I had more steady part time work, but for right now, this is fine.
9. What is one thing you like to do in your free time? I spend entirely too much time blogging! In addition to
Code Name: Mama, I'm also cofounder of both
Natural Parents Network and
NursingFreedom.org. Natural Parents Network is my labor of love - we have this incredible group of volunteers who are passionate about NP issues, and I am so blessed to know them all. We're planning a volunteer get together here in KC this October - I hope I'm not too big and pregnant to have fun with them!!
Otherwise, I spend free time with Kieran (since I'm a WAHM). We're starting week 4 of swimming lessons this morning, so I've been hanging out poolside watching Kieran turn into a fish. (That's not as glamorous as it sounds, since we've been experiencing a major heat wave!)
10. What's one thing you're looking forward to doing differently with this baby. What's one thing you plan to do the same? Hmm . . . I think one thing we'll work on more is having papa help with bedtime routines. It gets exhausting doing them by myself, and I don't know what that will look like with two.
Of course the home birth is definitely something we're looking forward to! I'm also going to try to do Hypnobabies this time, I'm crossing fingers that will help during active labor.
As far as doing things the same - I'm really happy with how we've done with Kieran as far as breastfeeding, gentle discipline, cosleeping, etc. I'm looking forward to doing everything again and being more familiar as a mama.
