BirthCare & Women's Health in Old Towne Alexandria, VA

After a negative hospital experience with my first, I had initially wanted to have a birthing center birth, but the nearest is 30 min away (in ideal traffic conditions, haha that is a joke), we live in PG County, MD.  Dh and I became more and more drawn to a home birth, so when a friend recommended this center we jumped for it.  I had my first prenatal visit in Aug (due in March).  Just wondering if anyone else has had experience with this center.  Thanks!

Had my first at home w/ Alice (5 yrs ago) when I lived in DC. Awesome experience. Highly recommend.

Thank you!  I went ahead and made my first prenatal appt, Aug. 8th!  Dh is coming with me, and then we will go to the information session on the 23rd.  I'm pretty excited!

I'm a doula in the area and have had great experiences so far with BirthCare. (I'm also a well-woman care client of theirs.)

I have numerous friends, neighbors, and acquaintances who've had their babies at home with Birthcare and at the center, and all have had glowing reviews.  I've read a few negative comments online, but overall it seems like a wonderful place.  Hope you have a wonderful birth experience!

I had my first baby there 2 years ago, well not there, bc we decided to birth at home in the end.  =)  But the care was wonderful.  Plenty of talking time at prenatal appts to ask questions, very caring MW's, and the birth was wonderful despite a terribly long labor.  I'll be having my second at home with them in January.  And I'm in PG cty too. =)  The 35 min drives to appts is well worth it!  Feel free to PM me if you have any particular questions.  Good luck!

I had a wonderful homebirth with Birthcare. Very professional, great staff, midwives...love them.

I used them for my second pregnancy/birth and I would not use them again though my reasons are pretty much strictly based on how their practice is set up and not anything against any of the midwives themselves. I'm not really sure what I am and am not allowed to say on here so if anybody is interested in the reasons that I would not go back, feel free to PM me :)
