Milk Donation?

Is there a place to donate BM in the Boston area? Or a way to find people that are in need of milk? I have had to start a semi elimination diet for DS, and haven't been eating gluten, dairy or soy, which I imagine may be hard milk to come by.....

If you contact a local NICU they may be able to take your donation or give you info about passing it along.  My daughter passed away in the NICU in november 2010 and I had stored milk for her, which they took care of donating for me.  You can also arrange private donation through www.milkshare.com.

You can also check out the facebook group Human Milk 4 Human Babies.  They have chapters in nearly every state, you pair up with another family that needs milk.  There is info on the facebook group about how it works.

It's very kind of you to donate.  As Gracie, said, there are also milk banks, but I'm not sure what the donation process might be.

Mother's Milk Bank of New England  - if your little one is under a year, the certified milk banks process milk (typically) for NICU's and special needs infants.

"The Mothers' Milk Bank of New England provides pasteurized donor human milk to babies in fragile health."

"Donor milk supplies are very low nationwide and milk donors are URGENTLY NEEDED. If you have extra milk, please contact us, or another HMBANA milk bank. MMBNE is just beginning to process milk in New England but we would be happy to help you direct your donation to a receiving milk bank."

Awesome! This wasn't around when I checked into it before.  Right now, I decided to post on Human Milk for Human Babies to see if I can find a Mom who needs milk directly - I am dairy/soy/gluten free, and I think that may be hard to come by.  If no one claims it, I will definitely be donating it to the milk bank or NICU.  Thanks for the info!
