Soapmaking

Thread Starter

So I've been reading up on Soapmaking lately and I am intrigued to try my hand at it.  In my readings I see there are 2 processes - cold processing and hot processing.

Has anyone tried either one and which one would recommend to a beginner trying their hand at soap making?

Definitely cold process. The final product is preferable. A great book to start with is the Soapmaker's Companion by Susan Miller Cavitch, but I strongly recommend you run her recipes through an online lye calculator (you can find one by googling). Have fun and wear your goggles!
