Upgrading bed

Anyone have a bed they'd recommend? Were currently on an old queen mattress and DD is 11 months. My back hurts from sidelying and my sleep's nit the best. She still nurses every 3 hrs.
We're going to get a king....but new beds are $$! I found a used Simmons plush pillowtop with latex on the top for a good price ...what do co sleepers prefer? Firm vs soft. Pilliwtop or not. Latex? The mattress world is so confusing!

Safe bedsharing goes no-no for pillowtop or plush soft mattresses. We have a king thick (bed thickness not couch) futon that we adore. Adore adore. It was about $500. We got the 10 layer one I believe, so not the top of the line but still good quality. Weve never slept better and will use futons for all bedsharing
