Extended bfing beneficial with amalgam fillings?

I have a 10 month old son. He loves to nurse and I am happy to bf as long as he would like, howerver I am concerned about my metal fillings ( I have quite a few!). I know he is getting some mercury through the breastmilk, which is of  concern to me. So, I am just wondering if I should go ahead and stop at a year in my case, as continuing on may be more harmful than beneficial? Thanks in advance for your opinions!

Here is a good kellymom page on fillings. How I read it is that my baby is going to get more mercury from fish (that he eats or I eat) than my fillings, and so far the research shows no harmful effects from breastfeeding with fillings. So for us, the risks of breastfeeding with fillings are far fewer than the incredible benefits.

Intellectually I knew that breastfeeding was much more than food when he was little, but now he is a toddler it is much more apparent to me that breastfeeding (or "nursing", which is what we call it) is only partially about nutrition.

I would vote that nursing is way too vital to stop based on a tooth filling. It will still be the best thing you can do for your LO!
