AFM -- So I had ordered 2 cases (24 bottles) of coconut water from Vitacost, so I can have plenty for labor, and then some extra to have for hot days. I occasionally buy cases locally, and ordering it through Vitacost saved me more than $30. Not shabby. When I placed the order, I purposely ordered 24 instead of 20, because there are 12 bottles to a case. When I've bought cases locally before, they normally come in a cardboard half-box, and they're shrink wrapped in there. Basically the same as any other bulk beverage. So I get my order today and, OMG! They individually wrapped each (PLASTIC) bottle of coconut water in 4 feet of bubble wrap. Then, they packaged 3 bubble wrapped bottles into enormous plastic ziplock bags. And then mailed it. So instead of just getting 2 normal cases, I got 24 plastic bottles, wrapped in 96 feet of bubble wrap, and then put into 8 giant thick plastic ziplocks. Are you KIDDING ME!? The coconut water comes in a plastic bottle. WHY!? I'm happy about saving the $30, but the guilt of ALL that plastic. You do not need 96 feet of bubble wrap to ship 2 cases of PLASTIC bottles. There is no chance of shattering! ACK!
So if anyone was wondering, my birthing beverages come complete with heaps of liberal guilt
OMG! That is crazy! I am really digging the coconut water right now though!
Thanks for the info Carrie. I am doing Vit C and some liver support stuff since I had the odd rash last week. I don't do a lot of processed things and no carbonated stuff... I have been eating so well this pregnancy with lots of protein. I have no numbers form my last two pregnancies so maybe this is just how I am... I just hope the numbers go up. The midwives told me to get papaya leaf extract tincture, which I can only find online and would probably cost at least $50 to get me through the pregnancy. I have read good things about it, but I have spent a small fortune on supplements lately!
