Had my Glucose Screening (1 hour) test today. Mmm...16 oz. of OJ (had to take some Tums a few hours later because of heartburn). When I did my urine test it wasn't negative like usual. It was at least 100 (mg?) but less than 200. The midwife didn't actually ask me about my results...don't know if she just forgot or what (she was having a hectic day). I'm assuming it's normal to have sugar spill 45 minutes after drinking all that OJ....I just hope I passed the test.
Here's a baby name question (lord, this name stuff is driving us bonkers!)...
I think I'm just gonna decide that I'll openly discuss baby names here even though we're keeping it all the down-low IRL.
So, our son's name is Aydin (no, we had absolutely no idea back in 2008 that Aiden/Braden/Jayden/etc. was so popular...honest. I only knew of two Aiden's IRL; one was a little kid and the other was a teenager). We're trying to figure out a girl first name. We were into Sadie for a short while until I decided it just sounded way too similar to Aydin (with the /ade/ sound and being two syllables). So Sadie was out. Then we just couldn't find a name we were both into. Then, a few days ago, we both got into Annika. I went to bed feeling relieved that here was a name we both actually like, that sounded good with the planned middle and last name, etc. Then, in the middle of the night, it occurred to me that maybe Annika is too much like my name - Jessica. Most of my family and friends call me Jess, but I always introduce myself as Jessica. Interesting that I'm being drawn to names that are similar somehow to names that already exist in our family. Anyway, what do y'all think? Is it weird to have a Jessica and an Annika in the same family? I have a friend named Cecilia whose daughter are Mia and Sophia. So they all end with /ia/ and it never struck me as odd or anything. I really just want to get settled on these names!
Oh, I also wanted to ask if anyone else is having what I call "Aromatherapy Obsessions?" I'm just craving certain scents. We have this hand soap from Nature's Gate that I am swooning over...making up reasons to wash my hands so I can smell it. It's got tea tree, blue cypress, peppermint, rosemary and some other things in it. At night I douse my pillow in essential oils (bergamot, peppermint and lavender, on a rotating basis or sometimes as blends...and I just added lime to the group yesterday). I want to get my hands on some blue cypress and rosemary oils to I can try to replicate the hand soap smell and just spray it all over.
