My 20 month old DD has been waking every 2 hours to nurse for her whole life and I have had enough. Â We decided to try completely eliminating the night nursing and having my husband manage all of the night wakings (she won't settle for me at all without nursing) and it is not going well. Â After three nights she is still waking at least every 2 hours and taking a while to settle down. Â We have seen no improvement in her waking frequency (maybe it is just too soon?) and are wondering if we need to amend the plan.
Â
Has anyone had success with decreasing night nursing instead of completely eliminating it? The Dr. Jay Gordon plan sounds good, but I wonder if the inconsistency would confuse and/or frustrate my girl since she can't tell time and wouldn't know what to expect. Â The plan in Sleepless in America is similar, recommending that you gradually move the "okay to nurse" time later and later, hoping the wakings move later as well. Â Same issue with inconsistency, but does it work?
Â
What have you had success with?
