biting

My 11 month old has started bitiing! Not hard, it is more like she is investigating, but I don't want to encourage it either. Right now I say a gentle "no, no" and redirect. I know it will take some time for her to understand, but is there anything else I should be doing to discourage this that may be more effective?

Ugh I have no advice.  :( My 10mo likes to play with the draw strings on my pants or shorts.  Next thing I know she's biting my belly to let me know she wants to nurse!? So I'll just sit here on the edge of my seat and wait for answers!

My DS is 10.5m, and he is a biting fool. My other kids call him "The Shark". All kidding aside, he has bitten my nipple so hard he's drawn blood, and in the sling he bites my shoulder hard enough to make me cry out. I've tried all the recommendations--putting him down, a stern "no", ending the nursing session, saying "gentle" or "kisses" (this seems to work the best so far but he also knows "gentle" from the dogs)--but nothing stops him. I'm about to post in BF Challenges because my nips are suffering!
