My daughter is about to have her braces removed.  The orthodontist wants to do two surgical procedures, a fiberotomy to clip fibers to prevent her gums from pushing the teeth back to where they were, and a frenectomy to prevent a space from forming between her front teeth.  So far I have said no, because I am not convinced that these procedures will even work.  I have done a fair amount of research.

What I have not heard enough of is other people's experiences with these two procedures--if they work, if they cause other problems.

Looking at the other thread on orthodontia here, I had never even heard of the ALF, and wish I had known!  I may look into it for my younger child.

Anyone who has experience with fiberotomy or frenectomy for orthodontia, I would love to hear your thoughts.  Thank you.
