Laundry in hard water--does castile soap in a homemade recipe work?

I'm interested in making my own laundry detergent with borax, washing soda and castile soap.  However, I have hard water and I'm nervous that it will cause build up because it's "soap" instead of detergent.

Anyone have any success?  The soap seems to be the variable ingredient in the recipe.  Is there a better option than castile soap?

Thanks!

I've been doing this for the past 1-2 months out of necessity and I have'nt noticed any build up.

I've been using bronners, borax and baking soda.

I have well water, which is really hard, and I use homemade laundry soap and it works just fine.  :)
