Conceiving with short luteal phase..anyone??

I am wondering if any of you here have conceived even though you had/have a short luteal phase?

How short are you talking?  I have an average of 10 days and conceived within several months of TTC our first and had two oops babies after that.  I did also have two very early m/c due to my short LP, but I honestly think that those m/c helped kick my cycle into gear to conceive shortly after.

I know a few people who had a short luteal phase and conceived with the help of various medications.... I guess that probably isn't the answer you were hoping to hear :P

I also have a 10 day LP and conceived within 2 cycles our first attempt, and 5 cycles our second. The first pregnancy was a blighted ovum, but I don't know that that has anything to do with my LP length.

Resque- No, blighted ovum wouldn't have anything to do with LP length.

Batia- I just posted an article on implantation, which found that 84% of the time implantation of a healthy pregnancy occurs between 8 and 10 DPO.  You would likely need 1-2 days after implantation to build up enough hCG to signal to the corpus luteum to remain and not cause the uterine lining to shed.  This is why most sources say 10-11 days is the shortest possible LP you can have and sustain a pregnancy.  But even if your average LP is 10 days, you might have some cycles that are 11 or 12 and if sperm meets egg during one of those then your chances of sustaining are much better.  The article further stated the earliest implantation occurred at 6 DPO, so implantation between 6 and 8 DPO would likely be enough time with a 10 day LP.

Yup, twice now. With both I had to use progesterone cream to be successful. For DD I had a 10-12 day LP before supplementation, and this time I had a 9 day LP before supplementation. I'm still nursing, and this month I wound up exclusively nursing my 2 year old for 48 hours, and after that back to the level of, say, a 6 month old. So lots of nursing, but with the prog cream I'm at 18DPO (and 3 dark positives :)) without a spot.

Thanks ladies for your replies.

I am taking B6 and started using progesterone cream this cycle. I am nursing alot and have only had two cycles with ovulation (3 cycles total) since my baby boy was born in May 2010. I am currently still in the 3rd cycle.

I have only used progesterone cream with one other cycle which was back in 2009. I didn't use it the next cycle and became pg. Anyway, I just used it 2 days after ovulation until my menstrual bleeding started. This is what I am doing this time too although hoping for a BFP!

I am seeing sites online that say af won't start unless you stop using it? But the one time I used it my cycle still came...

Is this true??

And on a side note; because I only ovulated for the first time with my last cycle I don't know what my lp will be this cycle. My cycle isn't regular and all over the place so far. The first cycle in which I didn't ovulate was 37 days long. Then my last cycle in which I did ovulate was 26 days long with a 5 day lp. This cycle I ovulated on day 23 or 24 and today is day 31 and still no cycle. In the past my cycles do tend to be on the longer side, 34 days or so. So it's possible this cycle my lp won't be too short..I just don't know but figured it was a good idea to take vit. B6 and do the prog. cream just incase..
