CPMs do not have hospital privileges in Eugene. Your choice is usually CNMs at the Peacehealth birth center (who will also deliver at the hospital, in fact, 70%-ish of the women who book for the birth center get risked out to the hospital, caveat emptor), or CPMs who will deliver at home or Sacred Waters birth center.

I live about 7 minutes from Riverbend, and Elise Hansen is my midwife. She's a CPM. I have some risk factors, so she consults with Vern Katz about those, and he's respectful of her, even though he thinks I'm a bit of a nut job at my age and weight for considering a homebirth.Â

We're very likely to do a home birth. None of the birth centers will have me, but I'm comfortable with the transport time between here and Riverbend.
