Freezer stash leftovers

Hey Ladies,

So... my husband and I decided that at 12mo we're going to stop pumping and offer our son just the breast (no bottles) when I'm around.  (Long story but pumping at work has been super stressful and tough for me, since I travel for work often.)

Anyway, I have ~25 bottles and more than 100 oz of milk in the freezer right now.  The oldest is from mid-May, since we rotate stash. I'd love to stop pumping early but it seems like a bad idea, since my production will go down.  Or we could continue bottle feeding past when I stop pumping, but really if he's eating it, I should produce it, right?

So much to think about.

How did you all handle your freezer stash leftovers?

usually your supply will regulate to what your baby is nursing. you will want to wean yourself from pumping, otherwise you can give yourself plugged ducts and mastitis. so if you're pumping 3x a day, you cut back to two, then to one, then decrease how long you're pumping. and I would go ahead and use the freezer stash, sounds like you've got enough to keep giving him a bottle while you're away for a couple weeks (plus what you get while you're weaning off pumping), no reason not to use it.

When I stopped pumping right around 1 yrear, I was still able to nurse DS in the evenings and before bed and DH gave him the milk in a sippy cup in the mornings.  My freezer stash lasted about 3 months,  He nursed till 16 months.
