What can I eat to get rid of my gas?

I'm not eating anything different and it's 24 hours a day, so it must be hormones. I won't take any gas medicine, no matter how much my doctor says it's safe. I don't trust medications at all and would rather suffer. (I know, I'm stubborn.)

Is there anything I can eat that will get rid of it? It never goes away, so it's not a matter of cutting out one food. I haven't been eating the same things every day.

And please don't say cilantro. I can't stomach the taste of it. :-P

I should mention that it's very painful gas that never results in toots. It just hurts all. the. time.

Well, what ARE you eating on a daily basis?

Let's see...

Oranges, orange juice, water, RRLT, chicken, pizza, peanut butter sandwiches, oatmeal, cereal and milk (organic, not sugary), chicken enchiladas (no beans), vegetable soup, string cheese, apple sauce, fresh fruits - mostly apples right now, sometimes some potato chips (helps with my nausea, maybe because of the salt), spinach, turkey sandwiches with butterhead lettuce, broccoli (only twice in the last few weeks), peas, corn, fish, eggs, flax seed waffles.

That's all I can think of right now.

Does walking help at all? I've been getting it as well, and I had to take simethicone because I was in so much pain. Do you drink with a straw? Sometimes that can cause you to swallow air. If you're constipated, make sure to take care of that, since it will definitely cause gas. I don't know of anything that will stop the gas food-wise, but avoiding triggers may help. Things like cabbage, beans that aren't soaked, broccoli, gluten or milk if you're intolerant, etc. will give you gas.

Walking doesn't do anything. We always take about a 2 or 3 mile walk each day or we ride our bikes. I don't drink with straws. I don't have any food intolerances usually. It's really weird. No constipation, either, thank goodness. That's why I think it's a hormonal thing.

When I am pregnant or about to start my period lettuce and cheese give me BAD gas. I would try cutting those two things out for a week and see what happens. (I cant live without lettuce, so I understand you might not be able to either smile.gif )

I can live without lettuce, not sure I can live without cheese! :( I may just continue suffering if it means I get to keep eating it. I put it on nearly everything.
