Easiest way to clean grout

Thread Starter

I'm trying to clean our 1950s tiled bathroom. Some of the tiles in the shower area have mold growing in the grout. I have been able to get some of it clean with my fingernails! I'm using natural cleaners, which I think work fine, but is there some sort of tool I can use to scrape the gunk and mold off the grout?

Thanks!

I find a nail brush works really well, especially if you just do a few lines with it near the end of a shower so all the gunk is softened up by the steam. Good luck.

You can buy a special grout brush at the home improvement store (lowe's here.) And vinegar is supposed to be good to clean it too.

My DH is a tile setter and this is how he does it if it's not super duper bad.

If you pour hydrogen peroxide over it, the grossness will bubble right out! The first time I did it, I think I might have actually done a little dance, it works so well.
