Hi. I am a 38 year old mother of a two year old. He turned 2 in March. He is still breast feeding. He has eats normally (in fact he likes fruits, vegetables, water)but nurses at intervals when he is upset, sleepy or when he sees me for the first time after I return from work. The dentists (his bottom teeth are not so healthy) and his doctors tell me he is too old and that I should stop. He is simply brilliant, fiesty and wonderful. He is also very stubborn! I tried putting a bitter substance on my breast and telling him that Mommy's breast are sick. He screamed and screamed and demanded that I wsh out the 'medicine'. My family are annoyed with me for still breastfeeding and blame me for his damaged teeth. Help please.

You're welcome. I love kellymom.com! I feel that breastfeeding is MUCH more than just nutrition, and I plan to nurse my little one until he decides to stop.

My dentist told me to keep nursing as long as he wants, because it's good for him! Also, we brush twice a day with a "rice sized" amount of fluoride toothpaste, and we brush with just water and have water to drink after each meal, and he doesn't eat "sticky" foods like dried fruit or puffs/crackers which stay on the teeth. Also I don't share food with him as that spreads cavity causing bacteria too.

Good luck!

I will take your advice especially about sharing food.
