crib mattress coils

Does anyone know if there are off gasses from the coils inside a crib mattress?  Any suggestions for the healthiest / cleanest crib mattress?

I would guess that the coils are metal which shouldn't off gas.  It's usually the foam that is the off gassing culprit with mattresses.  Maybe also the coating if they have some sort of water proof fabric as an outer layer.

Coils on crib mattresses can be oiled with petro chemicals to keep them from rusting. A reputable company (like ours) who is truly committed to your family's health will provide organic mattresses without oiled springs. Ours are made with only the purest components.

 

There are many companies trying to cash in on the "organic" movement without truly understanding what us mamas are concerned about. They think if they stick a little organic cotton in their otherwise toxic mattress that they will sell a ton. And they do. Toys R Us and Costco do this. Only buy from a company you trust....
