Hello,

My little one born at 41 2/7 weeks had severe meconium aspiration/persistent pulmonary hypertension and was on a vent/oscillator for  4 days, and is no on ECMO for the past 3 days.  Praying she will come through.  Does anyone have a similar experience to mine?

Hi there,

I'm so sorry to hear of your baby's struggles and I'm sending you many prayers and good thoughts.

My older daughter was born at 41 weeks 6 days and had severe meconium aspiration syndrome and PPHN. She started life on a vent/oscillator and was inches away from being airlifted to a different hospital for ECMO, but she ended up not needing it, so I don't have any experience with ECMO. My daughter is now 11 years old and has no medical or developmental problems. She had severe hypotonia after being released from the NICU, but it resolved by age 2 with lots of Early Intervention therapy.

I hope your daughter is off ECMO soon and recovers quickly and well. Take care of yourself during this stressful time.

Davidah
